Rain

If my life were a rainbow,

it would be faded into the clouds;

all but disappeared,

a patina of colour,

overwhelmed by gray.

A mist of tiny droplets;

condensing into tears

falling from the sky

bathing me in hopelessness.

I can hear the thunder in the distance,

Calling my name,

Pulling me like a magnet

into the storm.

And so, the rainbow

that might’ve been

my life

falls

Pouring over me,

washing me clean,

leaving me clear as glass,

Pierced through

with lightning.

Can you see it?

A girl made of glass?

She’s frozen in the rain,

an image of the past

A time-traveler stuck in her future,

your present,

someone’s past;

mute,

voiceless,

with lightning in her heart.
