Blink

My arms hang open,

empty.

My heart beats slowly,

lonely.

My thoughts wander ceaselessly,

randomly.

My ears listen restlessly,

hopefully.

My eyes watch endlessly,

waiting.

Time passes so slowly that,

if I blink,

I can almost forget

The way you look when you laugh

and

The look in your eyes when you think

So I blink.

Over and over and over and over.

But I can’t forget.

You’re stuck on my brain like a

picture

Made with indelible ink.

A fixture.

You alter the way that I think.

So I’ll wait.

Forever, if I have to.

but I don’t mind.

You see, I’m waiting for you.

And maybe, one day,

You’ll wait for me too.
