Dark Chocolate

A bittersweet flavour on my tongue

a memory of days gone by

a song that lingers in my mind,

and a heart that beats for you.

Dark chocolate heartache

a trace of a kiss on a lip

the slightest taste of love in my mouth

and a lipstick stain on your heart.

Sweetness while the moments last

and sweetness when they go. . .

This was a party I’ll never forget

and a heart that never broke.

As for the bitterness

-if that’s what it was-

It had its moments too;

but my chocolate is gone,

Like the sun that went down

Memories faded from view.
