Dancing Girl

The poetry of bodies moving
Brings to me a happiness;
The beauty of a dancing girl
Suspended in the moment.
A note of music brought her there
Another shall take her hence
But for this one moment, we pause
And wonderingly glance
At the beauty of her slender arms
Gracefully posed in the light
If she was a bird
I know she’d be a swan in flight
If she was an emotion
She’d be fierce joy
In spite of all the hardships
Still, she dances on
Ignoring any comments
From the jeering throng
This shield maiden for the graces
Fights her battle hard and long
On her bleeding toe-tips,
In the extension of her legs
She strongly keeps on moving,
She dances through the pain;
She is a last remembrance
Of a dream I’ll dream again.
